PR Butter was founded in 2023 by Vyoma (vie-o-ma) Venkataraman (ven-cut-ramen), a New York-based art and design publicist. After switching careers from journalism to PR, she spent the next 11 years gaining a foothold in the New York City art world, working with some of the most well-known creatives in the world such as designer Misha Kahn, and artists Jeffrey Gibson, Lorraine O’Grady, JR, Baseera Khan, Mel Chin, and Sable Elyse Smith; renowned fashion houses Dior and Thierry Mugler; and cultural forces Spike Lee and Virgil Abloh.
She cut her teeth at Bonhams Auctioneers managing PR for its New York saleroom. After that, the fast and furious world of PR agency life led her to work with a variety of clients in the creative industries such as Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and Practice for Architecture and Urbanism; Friedman Benda; Dinosaur Designs; Madworkshop; Marc Straus Gallery; Art Money; and the Rhode Island School of Design.
She moved on to oversee marketing, press, and digital communications at the Queens Museum, where she built its first Communications team and doubled its yearly earned media coverage. In 2019, she joined the Brooklyn Museum, one of the world’s most renowned and trailblazing cultural institutions where she promoted its vast collections, pioneering learning and social action programs, critically acclaimed exhibitions, and enduring 200-year-old legacy.
Vyoma holds an MFA in Art Writing from the School of Visual Arts in New York and a BFA in Arts Management from LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore.
